The best way to get started in Motorcycle sport is to join our Club.

If your rider doesn’t have a motorbike then contact us.  We recommend that you come to our Club and see what other kids are riding.  We can provide some basic advice based on our Club’s riding activities, your rider’s age and size.  It’s then up to the parents on what to choose.  Please note that we don’t have motorbikes for hire.

If your rider already has a motorbike then you need to be a member of a Club in order for them to obtain a Motorcycling NSW competition licence and a Junior Coaching Program Log Book.  All Junior riders (i.e. under 16 years of age) must participate in the Junior Coaching Program.

To obtain a licence Junior Riders must undertake the Kick Start Program. Motorcycling NSW is required to satisfy itself that first time licence applicants are capable of competently controlling a motorcycle before they issue a licence. Riders must also have a basic knowledge of the rules relating to competition and competition protocol.

Motorcycling is dangerous so you will need the right protective equipment to ride.

Coaches at KMW run the Kick Start Program and will assess riding ability and knowledge on competition in the form of a questionnaire.  These tests are not difficult.

After your rider has completed the Kick Start Program a Licence Application will need to be completed and sent to Motorcycling NSW.  First time applicants will need to send in the completed application form, a copy of the Club Membership Card, a copy of a Birth Certificate, the completed theory and practical tests from the Kick Start Program book and a payment.  Allow 2 weeks for the issuing of the licence.

For riders competing in Minikhana events only a Mini Licence is recommended.

Once your rider has a licence they are able to ride on practice days and compete.
